AIM EV Micro.
Presented at Japan Mobility Show 2023.

A joint venture between the government of Okinawa and the renowned maker of AIM-Judd LeMans engines, now AIM, tasked us to design a KEI car for visitors of the island of Okinawa, Japan.

With very tight vehicle architecture many problems arose that as the lead interior designer I spent months solving. Between interchangeable batteries below the driver’s seat, staggered seating to fit two adults, storage solutions in the instrument panel and a “kawaii” animation mimicking Okinawa’s Shisa we were able to deliver a very fun and useful kei car.

Detail design.

Final details ready for Japan Mobility Show, formerly know as the Tokyo Auto Show.

1:1 Scale Model.

To create the model I lived to Tokyo to be at the vendors model making studio every day. With our small and talented team we were able to translate our digital sketch model into foam and clay while validating and adjusting proportions. Kei car proportions were challenging but gave me a lot of understanding about vehicle architecture and its constraints.
